Who We Are and What We Stand For

Our BAWA Tech Journey

Our inspiration: Helping Our Late Grandmother and Understanding Visual Impairment

Initially, our journey began with a purpose to aid our late grandmother in coping with her vision loss caused by cataract and glaucoma. In order to better comprehend the challenges faced by the visually impaired, we decided to immerse ourselves in their perspective.

As we delved deeper into our research, we discovered that standard white canes were unable to adequately detect obstacles, especially those above knee level. In addition, there had been no major innovations in white canes for the visually impaired, leaving them with limited options. Though guide dogs were available as an alternative, they came with a hefty price tag and faced acceptance challenges, particularly in our country of Malaysia.

Therefore, we made the decision to impact the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals around the world, to not allow anyone else go through what our grandmother had to when adapting to life without sight.

Innovating for Greater Independence: The Creation of BAWA Cane

After conducting extensive research and speaking to individuals who are blind or visually impaired, we discovered that there was a significant gap in the market for assistive technology that could help individuals navigate their environment more safely and effectively.

We saw an opportunity to create a more innovative and effective solution, which is how the idea for the BAWA Cane was born. Our team of engineers and designers worked tirelessly to create a cane that was not only capable of detecting obstacles at various heights, but also provided additional functionality to make navigating the environment easier and more intuitive.

The BAWA Cane has since been tested and refined through numerous iterations and feedback from users, resulting in a product that has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals across the globe.

From Product to Ecosystem: The Birth of BAWA Tech Ecosystem

Our journey has taken us on a path towards a greater purpose — the creation of the BAWA Tech Ecosystem of assistive technology, inspiring us to become the go-to brand for all things innovative in the independent living industry. Having said that, we are on a voyage and its mission is to break barriers and empower individuals with disabilities to live their lives to the fullest, and we will stop at nothing to achieve our vision of a more accessible world.

A World of Accessible Technology for All: Our Beliefs and Commitment

Our belief at BAWA Tech is that even without sight, individuals who are blind or visually impaired should have access to innovative assistive technologies that promote greater independence and improve their quality of life. We also believe that these technologies can benefit not only the individual, but also their loved ones, caregivers, and the wider society for the blind. BAWA Tech is committed to creating a world where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive and achieve their full potential.
